Competency: The student can demonstrate good craftsmanship when producing works of art.

Activity: Trace an outline of your hand with a marker. Draw a line to separate the feathers. Color in the body and the feathers of the turkey and add two legs. Draw a face.

Then, the students will experiment with mixing red, blue, and yellow paint. Lastly, the students will complete an “exit slip” to assess their understanding.

Title: The Basics of Cursive Writing

Grade Level: 3rd and up

3. OBJECTIVE & COMPONENT: 7.4 Uses handwriting appropriate for age and grade level consistently: forms upper- and lower-case cursive letters correctly; spaces words evenly; writes final drafts legibly

4. Standard (Competency): 7.D The student will demonstrate the ability to write daily for a variety of purposes: a. teacher directed writing b. self-initiated writing.

5. Plan (Activity): Students watch a brief video that overviews the different stokes used in cursive writing, to develop a basic understanding of the style. Then will following along as we write each letter of the alphabet, and some small words.

6. Assessment: Did the student write the alphabet, and small words while following along with the lesson?

7. Homework: Students are able to write 7-10 words from the word wall 3 times each.

12. Careers Skills: Writing in any form is a necessity. With the ever evolving growth of technology, the element of cursive writing sometimes is lost. This trait is still essential in the workplace in some cases so the knowledge of the topic is needed.
